New Church Building Progress

Building committee update from Gerry Knief:

Some concessions and revisions were adopted to keep the building program moving forward and to get construction cost within a doable figure that can be presented to the congregation on July 18 between services or other to be determined by the Elders.  This meeting date was announced at the last congregational meeting allowing for the two week notice.
Actions: Changes requested to lower our building cost into our budgeted range.

1.      Remove the lower level from the build plan.

2.      Revise the site plan with having only one level.

3.      Request the use of tar and chip for the parking only.

4.       Revise the canopy from two lanes to one.

5.      Substitute contrast brick for stone.

6.      Contact Best Buy for pricing alternatives.

7.      Revise ALL related drawings to achieve build.

8.      Acquire updated bids and negotiate with sub-contractors.

9.      Discuss parameters with LCEF in obtaining loan and submit requirements to secure loan.

10.  Obtain building permit from the city of Spring Hill.

11.  Set ground breaking date and estimated construction start date.

The time is critical and decisions are discussed, adopted and implemented at each building committee meeting.

The building committee meets each Thursday evening at 7:00 pm for updates; all committees: members are urged to attend and participate in these proceeding giving input and/or support to the efforts and tasks at hand.  It takes more than eight participants to pull off this project.  We all need to recommit to the effort and stay informed, for everyone can not always make every meeting, and that way we are not backing up at the beginning of each meeting, so meeting times can be kept to a minimum.
